Post Apocalyptic Sunday

When there were people in Visalia. There must have been an artist who would slowly transform this fireplug into art. When the zombies came, they never got to finish.

Of Monsters and Men coming to Visalia Fox Theatre @monstersandmen

Of Monsters and Men is an amiable group of day dreamers who craft folk pop songs. But last year, the normally mild-mannered six pack transformed into total rock stars after stomping out their competition during Músiktilraunir, a yearly battle of the bands in their native Iceland.

In September, Of Monsters and Men threw another party—a more thoughtful gathering to celebrate their full-length debut, My Head Is an Animal. (The album, which was released in Iceland and hit No 1 there soon after, available worldwide in early 2012.) For the occasion, they cut out animal masks for the attendees to wear, making them makeshift monster-men/women. “Iceland can be a very isolated country and that translates to the music," Nanna says, adding,"We get stuck in our little world".

Concert Date: Saturday, December 8, 2012
TICKETS: $20, $25, $30 (on-sale 9/21 @ 10am)

Disc Golf

I have a Canadian friend who introduced me to Disc Golf. We played a couple of times at Mooney Grove. I bought my own set of discs and located this course at the park on Edison off of Tulare Ave. I like to play disc golf but much like real golf, I get lost. That's frustrating. I think the most interesting think about this park is the sleeping homeless people you have to play through.

Post Apocalyptic Sunday

It's another Sunday here in lovely Visalia and yet another barren street. On most days, weekdays, this is one of the most busiest areas of Visalia but on a Sunday, nothing. You could light off a cannon down this street and hit no one. Again, I say, this is perfect for a zombie movie to film here

Creepy Creek

There are some parts of Visalia that are just creepy. I think it's because Halloween is coming or I'm just weird that way but I like it. If a body was discovered right there, I would not be surprised. It's just that horrific.

Mill Creek of Death

It's doesn't look much but it's really a creek that runs across the whole town. Most of it is covered. I hear stories that way back in the days of dinosaurs, Visalians would go tubing under the city in complete darkness. The smart ones would take their cigarettes with them to light the way. I say no way. The wildest thing I did as a youth was train catching. That's where you stand as close as you possible can while on a bridge. So, once the train comes, you are pretty much committed to possibly dying. It's very loud and very loud and very dangerous. You can easily get struck by the train or something on it. Maybe I would have gone tubing.

Two Benches

Behind Checkers and on the Kaweah Delta Hospital campus is a little area for people to sit and talk or just sit. The Mill Creek runs through the whole area and there are tall trees and ivy. It's very nice.

Gum Brick

Walking the streets of Visalia, I came across a giant wad of gum. I hope it was gum. I didn't taste it. It was stuck on a brick wall. Not tucked away in the corner or alley but smack dab in the middle next to a sidewalk. I thought it odd enough to take a photo of it and immortalize this globule.

Post Apocalyptic Sunday

My town is dead on a Sunday. Every Sunday. Like a bomb went off and everyone is gone. Few stores are open and the ones that are have shortened hours. It's something I can't get used to & I don't think I want to.
Would make for a great Zombie film location. By the way, the 4th Annual Zombie Crawl is happening October 6th, 2012
